Meet Our Team

Adventist Health Lodi Memorial is staffed with employees passionate about not only providing the best clinical care, but also treating patients with respect and compassion. From the moment you pick up the phone to schedule an appointment to your final office visit after surgery, our team of dedicated professionals will be here to ensure your experience what you expect and deserve. Below are a few staff members you will meet in your journey for better health.

Tom Carmody, PA-C
Orthopedic Specialist

Tom comes to us with over 22 years of experience as a Certified Orthopedic Physician Assistant. He has worked closely with Dr. Howell for the past six years. Prior to becoming a physician assistant, he was an operating room registered nurse for ten years. While employed as a nurse, he had the opportunity to work short term nursing assignments around the country for several years, giving him exposure to many different surgeons while polishing his skills.

During his time with Dr. Howell, he has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive orthopedic program that unified the roles of all the team players for total knee replacement. As the patient liaison, Mr. Carmody is the instructor for the pre-operative joint class, provides first assist to Dr. Howell in surgery, and closely follows the patients daily, making rounds and coordinating their care with the nursing team, physical therapy, and case management.

When not working, Tom and his wife Sunny like to spend their free time traveling internationally. They have two continents remaining to fulfill their bucket list of visiting all seven!  Tom and Sunny reside in Elk Grove, where Sunny enjoys gardening and Tom builds and flies radio controlled sailplanes.

Tom brings his passion and enthusiasm for quality patient care to our hospital and is excited to be a part of the growing orthopedic program here at Adventist Health Lodi Memorial.

Gail Rodriques, RN
Orthopedic Nurse Navigator

Gail has been a practicing RN for 33 years. She completed her nursing education at San Joaquin Delta College and found herself at home at Lodi Memorial where she has worked since her career began.

Over her significant career in nursing, she has worn many hats, spending time in the medical surgical units, cath lab, and providing patients hands-on care through home health. From there, Gail was entrusted with more leadership roles at Lodi Memorial, including APU Supervisor and Relief Hospital Supervisor. In 2010, Gail realized that she missed providing direct patient care, and returned to pre- and post-surgical care.

Gail’s approach to medicine incorporates outstanding clinical care by relieving anxiety with laughter. She has a special place in her heart for patient education, and with her role as the Orthopedic Nurse Navigator she considers herself the patient cheerleader, assisting orthopedic patients with their plan of care and education, from pre-surgery through discharge.
